This year Audi Innovation Awards received over 4,000 entries from more than 200 schools across the country.

This is a fantastic result compared with 1,600 entries from 120 schools in 2005. Audi Innovation Awards would like to thank all students and teachers who put their creativity and imagination to work and entered the competition.

National Final

Winner - Timothy Quigg with presenterTimothy Quigg, representing Grosvenor Grammar School and Isaac Agnew Audi, Belfast, claimed the winning title at Audi Innovation Awards 2006.
Timothy’s winning entry was ‘Orbit (Intelligent Tunes)’ a futuristic portable music player with interactive holographic technology. The idea was the result of substantial research into current technological advances and consideration of the needs of tomorrow’s music fans. The judges were particularly impressed by the very high standard of presentation of Timothy’s entry.

JudgingHot on Timothy’s heels were two runners-up: Georgia Cohen from Leeds Girls’ High School and winner of the Semi-final event at Leeds Audi, and Jack Whittingham from Heath Mount School, who claimed his Semi-final win at Whetstone Audi. Jack’s design, ‘Dr Plecticle’ drastically reduced the need to spend time in doctor’s waiting rooms by enabling users to effectively diagnose themselves at home. Georgia was also inspired by the Plecticle challenge – her idea took the form of technologically advanced rose-tinted glasses which enable the user to de-stress and ‘see life as a happier, brighter place.’

Finalists on the London EyeThe final event was held at Dali Universe in London, and the finalists enjoyed looking around the gallery after meeting with the judging panel. Later, while the judges deliberated, the finalists took off for a flight of the London Eye which proved to be a highlight of the day.

Overall the standard of this year’s entries was exceptionally high, and all our finalists deserve commendation for their innovative ideas.
